There’s just no stopping the Houston Rockets. After shooting down the Charlotte Hornets Wednesday, 108-96, the Rockets continued their unbeaten run to 11 games. With sole possession of the best record in the NBA, Houston is arguably the best team in the league right now.
That’s how strong the Rockets are supposed to be, given that they are powered by the fantastic backcourt tandem of James Harden and Chris Paul, who don’t seem to be having any problem co-existing alongside each other, as evidenced by their current win streak.
Speaking of streaks, Paul is also the first player in over 20 years to win his first 12 games with a new team, per Tim McMahon of ESPN.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, Chris Paul is the first player since the 1995-96 Bulls’ Dennis Rodman to win his first 12 games as a starter with a new team.

Of course, that 1995-96 team Dennis Rodman played for was the legendary Michael Jordan-led squad that went 72-10 in the regular season that finished the job by eventually winning the NBA title.
Chris Paul missed 14 games early this season with a knee injury, but since his return, the Rockets have gone 11-0. Including the season-opener win over the defending champions Golden State Warriors, that’s 12 consecutive wins for the Rockets when Paul is active.
Will Chris Paul and the Rockets follow the same path as the Bulls’? That’s too early to tell, but the Rockets have made it clear they’re serious title contenders, especially with a future Hall of Famer point guard in tow.
