Chris Broussard says that while Stephen Curry played bad in Game 3, he wouldn’t put much blame on him

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry did not exactly have a banner performance during his team’s overtime loss to the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of their second-round Western Conference playoff series on Saturday night, as he scored just 17 points on 7-of-23 shooting while going an abysmal 2-of-9 from 3-point range.

While the Warriors remain up 2-1 in the series, many are blaming Curry for Golden State not having the opportunity to go for the sweep on Monday night, especially considering Kevin Durant dropped 46 points in the Game 3 defeat.

However, FOX Sports analyst Chris Broussard has leapt to Curry’s defense, saying that while he did not have his finest moment on Saturday evening, he is not to blame for the loss:

Broussard makes some good points, citing the fact that Klay Thompson did not exactly have a great game either and also noted how badly the Warriors were outrebounded in the contest.

He also notes that Curry didn’t play all that well in Games 1 and 2, but yet, Golden State still found ways to win both games.

Finally, Broussard said he was not crazy about how the Warriors ran their offense, as they basically had Durant playing the role of LeBron James with the other four guys on the floor playing on the perimeter.

Plus, we have to remember that Stephen Curry is not 100 percent right now, as he has been dealing with ankle issues and has a dislocated finger on his non-shooting hand. While those injuries don’t completely excuse his performance, they do serve as factors in explaining it.
