Chris Bosh thinks LeBron James will go to Houston

Chris Bosh

Chris Bosh, a former teammate of LeBron James, thinks The King would wind up in a rather unpopular destination after rampant rumors of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers have been at the forefront of what seems like an apparent departure from Cleveland.

The former All-Star told Fox Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd his honest take on James’ potential destination.

“I think he goes to Houston,” said Chris Bosh unequivocally, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “It’s a star power league. It’s like the next Avengers movie.”

Bosh is right to a degree, as James will have to look for the best-assembled team in hopes to continue his chase for another championship ring, but that’s where his expertise stops.

Houston will have to dramatically change the entire exoskeleton of this team in hopes to land James, forced to pass on either Chris Paul — who is hellbent on getting a max deal at 33, or Clint Capela — who is due for a major raise after having his best season yet in a Rockets uniform.

Keeping LeBron James in a Big 3 scenario with Paul and James Harden (both ball-dominant players like James) would involve shedding Ryan Anderson’s horrific contract, and parting ways with Trevor Ariza, their best individual defender, or sixth man Eric Gordon.

This would be even more of a sacrifice than last year’s trade for Paul, as the Rockets would be forced to abandon that three-and-D system archetype to land James, a strategy that would have a short-term lifespan with Paul and James each at the latter end of their prime.
