When LeBron James becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer the Houston Rockets are expected to be a major player and some betting companies in Vegas have given them the best odds to land the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar. Charles Barkley however, isn’t very fond of the idea of the Cavs forward leaving Cleveland to team up with James Harden and Chris Paul.
He joined First Take on ESPN to give his thoughts. When asked what he would do if James went to the Rockets, he nonchalantly remarked:
“I’d quit watching the NBA…I don’t want a two-team league. I want the talent spread out and I hope Lebron stays in Cleveland.”
Barkley is currently a host on TNT’s Inside the NBA that serves as the pregame and postgame show during their coverage. How he would host that show, and know about the NBA without ever watching it would be an interesting development and might be enough to make it worth James joining the Rockets.
There is still a lot of play left in the season and a lot to be decided before James has another chance to make one of his big off-season decisions.
The Cavs made a lot of moves at the deadline to make the team younger, and they hope these will be enough to make James want to stick around for long.
But if he decides to leave, the Cavs have still set them up well for the future having Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson on their roster to go along with whoever they select using the Brooklyn Nets’ lottery pick.
