CBS Salt Lake City affiliate reported on app that Jazz had won Game 3

Jazz

KUTV 2News, a CBS Salt Lake City affiliate, reportedly got too ahead of itself when the network sent out an app notification saying that the Utah Jazz had prevailed against the Houston Rockets in Game 3. However, they apparently sent it out with still a whole half of basketball to play.

Utah Representative Craig Hall screen grabbed the notification and posted it on Twitter:

To be fair, the Jazz was up by five points at that point and had the Vivint Smart Home Arena crowd rocking after Joe Ingles nailed a three-pointer to close the half. Moreover, reigning MVP James Harden had not made a field goal at that point, as he went 0-of-10 in the first half. With these circumstances, the game could have easily tipped towards Utah’s favor.

Unfortunately, the Jazz just could not find their rhythm offensively and failed to capitalize on Harden’s struggles as they eventually lost Game 3 in heartbreaking fashion, 104-101.

Harden did not make a field goal through the first three quarters. The NBA scoring champion started off the game 0-of-15 from the field. His first basket came at the 7:34 mark in the fourth quarter on an easy semi-transition dunk.

Harden overcame the worst shooting performance of his career just in time, and made crucial plays for Houston in the fourth quarter. The reigning MVP made a clutch three-pointer with 71 seconds remaining to put Houston up by four, answering Donovan Mitchell’s triple that previously trimmed the deficit to one.

The Jazz eventually found themselves down by three after P.J. Tucker missed a potential game-clinching free-throw with 10 seconds remaining.

With one more chance to tie the game and save their season, Donovan Mitchell found himself wide open on the right wing for a three-pointer. Words could not emphasize how clean a look he had on this one. Unfortunately, the shot clanked off the side of the rim.
