As the Houston Rockets continue to decide whether to keep Carmelo Anthony on the roster moving forward, the veteran small forward will not join the team when they head to Denver to take on the Nuggets on Tuesday, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
The Rockets defeated the Indiana Pacers at home on Sunday to move to 5-7 on the year. Carmelo Anthony hasn’t played in the last two games.

It’s beginning to look like Carmelo Anthony’s brief tenure with the Rockets is coming to an end. After getting traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks, and then reaching a buyout agreement with Atlanta, Anthony signed a one-year deal worth the veteran’s minimum with Houston. The prevailing thought was playing with two elite playmakers in Chris Paul and James Harden would help Melo rediscover his old form.
That hasn’t been the case at all, though, as Carmelo Anthony has been a negative to the team when he’s been on the floor. Houston has a net rating of minus-9.0 with Anthony on the court and minus-0.2 with him on the bench, per NBA.com.
Carmelo Anthony has appeared in 10 games this season. The 10-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer is averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc. If the Rockets really do move on from Anthony, will this be the end of his NBA career? Only time will tell.
