Carmelo Anthony will waive no-trade clause for Rockets only, Cavs drop out of options

Carmelo Anthony

The New York Knicks continue to have the cloud of Carmelo Anthony‘s future hover over the franchise this offseason.

However, it appears that the 10-time All-Star has his mind set on where he wants to be dealt, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Phil Jackson is out as president, but the franchise’s strategy hasn’t changed much. A stalemate has ensued as sources indicate Anthony only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets. Not even Cleveland, which is in turmoil, is good enough for Anthony as the Cavaliers are dealing with Kyrie Irving’s trade demand.

Since Houston acquired All-Star point guard Chris Paul from the L.A. Clippers, they have been Anthony’s most desired trade destination. It’s well known that Paul and Anthony share a strong bond on and off the court

However, the Rockets have been unable to hammer out a deal due to the lack of desirable trade assets. It would require for them to find a third team to help facilitate a trade for the 33-year-old.

Cleveland continues to linger in the picture due to their strong interest to bring more firepower to better combat the Golden State Warriors and possibly move disgruntled All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving in the process.

Ultimately, it appears that Anthony will only give the green light to any potential deal to the Rockets.
