Carmelo Anthony wants Knicks to push through with Rockets trade

carmelo anthony

It has been an ongoing saga between the New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony that has only become more complicated with each passing week this offseason.

Despite that, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting that the 33-year-old still hold strong belief that the Knicks will stay true to their promise of moving him to the Houston Rockets.

As New York Knicks president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry pursue a meeting with Carmelo Anthony in the coming days, league sources say that team officials will find a 10-time All-Star player counting on the franchise to carry out its previously agreed upon mandate to trade him to the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets had been working toward a deal to land the 10-time All-Star, but those discussions have stalled due to the teams looking to add another trade partner to help facilitate a deal. The New Orleans Pelicans had been rumored as a third possible suitor in such scenarios.

There have been public pushes from both Chris Paul and James Harden hoping to get Anthony over to Houston. In fact, Harden has stated that this is entirely in the hands of the Rockets’ front office to work out a deal.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have also remained firmly in the picture as a potential landing spot, but have also struggled to make progress hammering out a trade. This has all put Houston at the forefront as the likely only realistic destination to get pry Anthony away from New York.
