Carmelo Anthony tweets at reporter calling out his ego

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony has been a target of many reports recently aimed at him for rejecting the idea of coming off the bench for the Houston Rockets, once he gets bought out by the Atlanta Hawks and signed by the Texas-based squad. Anthony is no Kevin Durant, but when he reaches a boiling point, he’ll bite back even in social media.

Such was the case when the 10-time All-Star was the subject of an article by Michael Pina for Vice Sports that was bannered by quite a strong title which Anthony took notice.

Many believed that his disaster of a season for the Oklahoma City Thunder could’ve been salvaged had he embraced a role within the second unit. In Houston, he’s likely to start anyway after the team lost Trevor Ariza in free agency.

Anthony has played in 15 NBA seasons. He has seen a lot, no doubt. But he might need to take some cues from Durant and Kevin Love. These two made their own sacrifices and they’re now NBA champions. Durant embraced the Warriors’ system, being part of a Big 4, while Love, despite being arguably hailed as a Top 10-15 player prior to joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, gave up plenty to play sweet music alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

To be fair to Anthony, he did try to make things work in Oklahoma City. The bench is just a zone that he wants to stay away from. But if and when he decides to take that challenge, Houston could become an even more dangerous team.
