Carmelo Anthony to sit back, wait to get buyout figured out

The Houston Rockets are only days away from bringing their new addition into the fold in Carmelo Anthony, but the 10-time All-Star is taking things as they come. For now, he’s a member of the Atlanta Hawks.

The former scoring champion has heard all the rumors and seen the videos surrounding his expected signing with his new team, but so far, he will sit back and let his agent, Leon Rose, figure out the rest.

“Obviously, we’re just trying to figure it out,” said Anthony, according to ESPN’s Jemele Hill. “Everybody knows about the trade to Atlanta. I think everything is trying to get cleared right now. I’ll let the people do what they do. I just sit back and when the time comes, and the call gets made, we’ll make that move.”

Anthony is expected to sign a one-year, $2.4 million deal for the veteran’s minimum, allowing his venture into Clutch City to be as safeguarded as possible for the organization, risking a lot less money than the Oklahoma City Thunder did during his stint with the team.

The Hawks are expected to buy out Anthony for the full amount of his contract, which could have him earn more than $30 million in total this year once his contract with the Rockets has been signed.
