Carmelo Anthony has never wondered this season about playing with Rockets

Carmelo Anthony

During the offseason, the Houston Rockets were long viewed as the frontrunners to acquire All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony from the New York Knicks

However, nothing truly came about from the trade discussions with Anthony instead being moved to the Oklahoma City Thunder in mid-September just prior to the start of training camp. With a matchup against the Rockets lined up for Christmas Day, Anthony expressed that he hasn’t had any thought about the possible move to Houston this past summer, according to Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript.

“No, no,” Anthony claimed when asked about the matter Saturday. “Not at all. No.”

Given that is now more than three months since the 33-year-old was traded to the Thunder, the thought of joining Chris Paul and James Harden in Houston is now a thing of the past. Anthony is engulfed in the challenge of trying to figure out his role playing alongside Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

It has been a roller coaster ride for Oklahoma City that is partly centered on Anthony’s struggles to fit in offensively. He is currently averaging career lows with 17.5 points on 40.2 percent shooting from the field in 32 games played. Much of those struggles have arisen this month as he’s averaging 14.2 points on just 37.5 percent shooting.

That said, the Thunder appear to be finally headed in the right direction having won their last four straight games including six out of their last seven contests.
