Breaking: Rockets finalizing deal with Gerald Green

The Houston Rockets are finalizing a deal to acquire Gerald Green, according to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Green played with the Boston Celtics last season. In 47 games, he averaged 5.6 points and shot 35.1 percent from the 3-point line in 11.4 minutes per night.

Green has always been a solid energy player, sometimes erupting off the bench for scoring and highlight reel plays. Most known for his uber-athletic ability to finish above the rim, he’s developed into a reliable 3-point shooter as well, hitting 36.1 percent for his career.

The Rockets have been down many men this season dealing with injuries. Most notably for Chris Paul but also the likes of Luc Richard Mbah a Moute among others. Green’s signing is surely one to help hold over until the team is entirely healthy again, seeing as it is a non-guaranteed deal.

The fit will be intriguing because it’s always hard to imagine any exciting player not thriving under Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni. Green will definitely get opportunities to run in the open floor and shoot as many threes as he wants, at least for the time being.

After winning 14 games in a row, the Rockets finally fell on hard times losing the last three — despite Harden scoring 51 points in two of those games. They’ll look to bounce back tonight against the Celtics.
