Breaking down Kyle Lowry’s total NBA salary from his career

Kyle Lowry, Grizzlies, Rockets, Raptors

When Kyle Lowry’s current contract with the Toronto Raptors expires in the summer of 2021, the guard will have made $190,535,966 in NBA money, per Spotrac.

Lowry entered the NBA in 2006 with the Memphis Grizzlies. He made $1,011,720 during his rookie season and finished the year with averages of 5.6 points and 3.2 assists per game. In his second season, Lowry earned $1,087,680.

However, the Grizzlies traded Lowry to the Houston Rockets during the 2008-09 season, which was only his third season in the league. The Philadelphia native made $1,163,520 that year and averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 assists in 77 games with the Grizzlies and Rockets.

In his first full season with Houston, Lowry made $2,034,997 and put up 9.1 points and 4.5 assists. The rugged guard was set to enter restricted free agency in the offseason of 2010. Lowry signed an offer sheet with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Rockets chose to match it. The contract was a four-year, $24 million deal.

Kyle Lowry made $5,750,000 in Year 1 of his new contract. He averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 assists that year for the Rockets. The 2011-12 season was the lockout year, and Lowry made $4,628,049. That was his final season with Houston though, as the franchise traded Lowry to the Raptors in the summer of 2012.

In his first season with the Raptors, Lowry made $5,750,000 and averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists per game. His so-called “breakout year” was during the 2013-14 campaign when he exploded for 17.9 points and became the full-time starter in Toronto.

In the summer of 2014, the Raptors signed Lowry to a four-year, $48 million contract. During the 2014-15 season, Lowry made his first All-Star team and earned $12 million. He earned $24 million combined in the next two years ($12 million each year) before cashing in on a three-year, $100 million deal in the summer of 2017.

In 2017-18, Kyle Lowry made $28,703,704. He followed that up by making $32,700,000 in 2018-19 and winning his first championship. The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in six games in the 2019 Finals.

After capturing his first ring, Kyle Lowry signed a one-year, $30.5 million extension in October of 2019. The All-Star guard was set to make $34,996,296 in 2019-20 before games were suspended due to COVID-19. Lowry will make $30 million whenever the 2020-21 season begins.
