Brandan Wright is still part of the Memphis Grizzlies, but his stint with the team may end anytime soon with Shams Charania of The Vertical reporting that the big man is in the process of agreeing to a buyout deal with the Grizzlies.

As Charania noted, the Houston Rockets are expected to be among the top suitors of Wright, who has played in only 27 games so far this season. Should the Rocket successfully adds Brandan Wright, they will secure someone who is perhaps best known for his ability to protect the rim and clean the glass – typical big man duties.
Brandan Wright, who has missed plenty of games this campaign due to injuries, (quad, groin), has career averages of 5.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks on only 16.2 minutes per contest. Adjusted per 36 minutes, Wright is mustering 15.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in his career.
The 30-year-old former North Carolina Tar Heel is not going to be expected to play significant minutes in Houston. The Rockets already have Clint Capela, Nene Hilario, and Tarik Black, but being a second or even third-stringer is not an exotic role for the Wright either, so he should be very much comfortable coming off the bench to provide quality minutes while guys ahead of him on the pecking order get a breather. In any case, he could be a decent addition for Houston, which is 15th in the NBA with 105.8 points allowed per game.
Prior to his looming separation with the Grizzlies, Wright signed a three-year contract with Memphis in 2015 worth $17.1 million.
