Blazers video: Damian Lillard posterizes Trevor Ariza

After missing seven of their last nine games, Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard was not expected to have the same hops yet on Tuesday when they faced the Houston Rockets. Having dealt with a hamstring injury, many thought the bounce to his step will still not be fully there, but he made sure everyone watching found out that he is not feeling any ill effects from his troublesome calf.

During the third quarter, the two-time All-Star drove hard to the basket by blowing past Chris Paul before throwing dunk a vicious poster dunk on Trevor Ariza. The move brought a lot of excitement to his teammates on the bench who all couldn’t contain themselves and stood up to applaud him.

Damian Lillard is hoping his highlight reel play will give the Blazers more energy to win their fourth straight game despite being the second of their back-to-back set. They are making a strong push for the top four spots in the Western Conference and are currently in fifth place with a 22-18 record.

The Rockets, on the other hand, are struggling to string a few wins together of late. They have lost seven of their last 10 outings. With James Harden out, they have not found it easy to have consistent contributors who can make up for The Beard’s production. A win on the night will be huge and their second straight victory could even start a hot streak for them.

Update: The Rockets defeated Portland, 121-112, on the strength of Chris Paul’s production of 37 points and 11 assists.
