Ben Simmons breaks silence on almost being traded for James Harden
It was a rocky couple of days for Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons. Simmons’ name was included in recent rumors that threatened his future in Philly thanks to James Harden. Now that the dust has settled and Harden’s on his way to the Brooklyn Nets, Simmons can finally sleep soundly as his future in Philly looks to be locked in, for now.
Coming from their 125-108 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday, the 76ers point guard cleared the air and finally broke his silence amid all the recent trade rumors.
“This is a business. Things like that happen. The only thing I can control is how I approach my workouts, the games, and my day to day things. I’m just trying to be professional and do the right thing and help my team get wins.” the Sixers star said, via Derek Bodner of The Athletic.
“I’m blessed. I get to play the game I love at the highest level in the world. There’s far worse things going on in the world. If you tell me I’ll never play the game again, that would be a different story.” he added.

Simmons just played his second game after dealing with a knee issue and notched his second triple-double of the season with a 10-10-12 line en route to the 76ers victory.
Basing it on his on-court disposition and his post-game rhetoric, Simmons is definitely happy to be staying in Philadelphia as he continues to develop and lead this young Sixers squad to new heights. Alongside Joel Embiid, the process continues for the Sixers and they’re hoping that, with all the off-court drama out of the way, they can continue to build towards their ultimate goal of winning the title. After Thursday’s win, the Sixers are now atop the Eastern Conference with an early 9-4 record.
