Austin Rivers says Rockets star James Harden is pulling a Kobe Bryant

Austin Rivers, James Harden

Houston Rockets guard Austin Rivers made quite the comparison when discussing the recent stretch of awesomeness by superstar guard James Harden.

It’s been quite a run for Harden, as he earned his fourth straight 40-point game in Houston’s 113-101 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.

Harden secured a triple-double with 43 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds, which allowed the Rockets to capture their fifth straight win.

So, with Harden continuing his dominant ways when it comes to scoring the ball, that has Rivers believing that the Rockets star is channeling his inner Kobe Bryant.

From ESPN‘s Tim MacMahon:

Austin Rivers on James Harden: “What he’s doing is a Kobe, man, that Kobe run. He’s doing it so effortlessly. … You can’t stop him. He’s going to end up winning this s— back to back. Nobody in the league can do what he’s doing right now. He’s winning back to back MVPs.”

It’s clear that Harden is going to have a great shot at winning another NBA MVP award if he can keep up this type of production, as he’s simply doing things that no one else can do right now.

His contributions have helped the Rockets completely turn their season around after the disappointing 11-14 start, with Mike D’Antoni’s squad now sitting at 21-15 overall having won 10 of their last 11 games.

Harden will get an opportunity to showcase his skills and keep his streak going on Thursday night in a showdown against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.

After that, the Rockets will face off against the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center on Saturday.
