The Houston Rockets coasted to their seventh-straight victory on Sunday night with a dominant 118-95 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Although it was business as usual for the Rockets, they did suffer a minor casualty early on with power forward Ryan Anderson.
Anderson left the game after registering just 12 minutes with back tightness. Fortunately, he does not think the injury will be too big of an issue moving forward, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle:
“I just locked up,” Anderson said. “It tightened up really bad to the point that standing there was really hurting me. We did stuff to loosen it up. I think it will be fine, just one of those back spasms, I think.
Aside from his early departure, it was not a good night for Anderson. Prior to his exit, the sharpshooting big man went 1-of-5 from the field and hit just one of his four three-point attempts while hauling in a rebound. However, perhaps it was for the best that he did not try to play through the injury and risk any potential further damage.
Anderson will have more than enough time to relieve any pain he may be feeling before Thursday night’s tilt versus the red-hot Utah Jazz. Regardless, the high-powered Rockets have proven to be just as formidable even without some of their key players this year.
